at the end of the dock, fishing.
i asked him if he’d caught anything and he said "nah, the tide ain’t right".
so, i said "if the tide’s not right, why are you sitting there, fishing?"
and he said "sometimes the tide’s right and sometimes it’s not.
but, you always gotta fish".

Among my favorites of yours John, the colloquialisms and simplistic dialog cleverly woven to deliver the wisdom of the working class, 'nothing in the pail if you wait for fish to jump'. I think this has a very persistent quality and a very satisfying read.

This simple objective view through the poets eye could just about be about anything in life. Nice universal theme John, enjoyed the read my friend.
