i don’t know nothing about poetry.
never have.
never will.
i can’t tell a quatrain from a freight train.
but, if i were to write me a poem, i’d do one about that girl over there.
she’s just bad news waiting to happen.

indeed, very aptly used, though i took the thorn without the rose as an admission of the non-poet's abilities, that he would use cliché such as this line, which can be found in the song 'downtown train' by tom waits; in the same way hockey players will swoon their ladies with 'why do birds suddenly appear....' the fact that the song in question is also a rather sappy number compared to some of Waits' more biting metaphors, makes it all the more appropriate....or have i just been sniffing whippets again? cheers.
